LaMont at the Vault Festival

…exuding confidence that you can tell comes from their love of the art they’ve created, and you know they’ve put in the hours to perfect it.

The Vault Festival has a reputation for bold and brilliantly entertaining cabaret events that give the opportunity for acts to be wild and stylish with their music, an opportunity that Lamont and his band seized.

The energy in the room was like smoke, visible, with purple and red lights, the music, and the way the band are channelling everything, through their bodies right to the tips of Lamont’s hair. They seem to have found a new way of being in complete control, but also letting go and feeling the passion in all their work.

The original song Work For It expresses the lack of respect for a girl who doesn’t realise her privilege, and simply doesn’t work hard enough. The concept is so original and not talked about enough in the art scene, that people who are privileged usually give way to others who are privileged.

In this saturated genre Lamont has found ways to stand out, but one in particular was the connection with his band. Contemporary R&B sometimes feels like a club of solo artists, although how Lamont and his band connect and support each other throughout the whole performance. It just makes the music build, with each line or guitar riff, until its taking it to a place that you didn’t expect to be, but one you want to stay at all night.
